Father’s Day DIY gifts: Shaving Cream, Beard Oil, Cologne

It’s that time again to celebrate fathers and the father figures in our lives! Of course, we thought this is the perfect time to dive into some of our favorite men’s essential oils DIY recipes! If you’re looking for a last minute gift idea or the perfect homemade Father’s Day present from the heart, look no further.

For this DIY Tuesday we put together a men’s essential oils personal care set! All the recipes are natural, and free from toxins and chemicals. In addition, they’re probably some of the easiest DIY’s we’ve done this year. Not to mention, they smell delicious!

Before watching the demo, you may want to skim through the recipes and grab your ingredients. Then you’ll be ready to follow right along with us!

Men’s Essential Oils DIY Recipes

Shaving Cream: The Essential Life pg 402 or “For the Guys” Tearpad

Shaving cream is a men’s staple. Why not treat the man in your life to a chemical and toxin free soft and whipped cream shave? And, let’s not forget, all the benefits of the guys’ favorite essential oils? Before we start go ahead and grab a container of your choice! We love the heavy wall jar. Similarly, a glass or frosted jar will do the job.

Ingredients

  • ⅔ cup shea butter
  • ⅔ cup cocoa butter
  • ¼ cup fractionated coconut oil
  • 5 drops sandalwood
  • 5 drops peppermint
  • 5 drops melaleuca

Directions

Add the shea as well as the cocoa butters with the olive oil in a double boiler to melt . Next, mix in the essential oils. Let the shaving cream cool, then whip it up with a hand mixer to finish. Lastly, store in a large heavy wall jar and keep in a cool place out of direct sunlight, in the same way you’d store your oils.

To use: Use as a normal shaving cream! Like any skin product, especially with essential oils, make sure to patch test first in case of skin sensitivity to the essential oils included. If you have had or suspect negative reactions to any of the ingredients, please don’t use.

Beard Oil

In addition to shaving cream, beard oil is becoming a staple in men’s care. Even better, it’s an easy and perfect men’s essential oils gift! Beard oils condition and soften hair, reduce the itchy feeling, supports healthy skin and hair growth, soothes dry skin, gives beards a finished look. And-of course-when you add essential oils you get all the aromatherapeutic and healing benefits of the oils and their properties.

Supplies

  • 2 ounce glass bottle
  • 2 ounces (4 tablespoons) avocado oil
  • 4 drops vetiver essential oil
  • 2 drops fir needle essential oil
  • 2 drops cedarwood essential oil

Directions

Fill the bottle with avocado oil (almost to the top). Add the essential oils to the bottle. Shake well before use!

To use:
Use the dropper to draw a few drops of beard oil from the bottle. Next, warm up the drops by rubbing your hands together. Lastly, simply rub the oil on beard and neck.
Again, make sure to patch test on a small spot of skin before using.

 

Cologne: The Essential Life pg. 403 or “For The Guys” Tearpad

Not only are essential oils therapeutic,  but they also smell so good. Before going out to buy an expensive (potentially toxic) cologne, try this simple, and natural blend of oils! It’s safe and, of course, smells delicious.

  • 40 drops bergamot
  • 10 drops clove
  • 20 drops white fir
  • 5 drops lemon
  • 3 tsp fco

Combine the essential oils with fractionated coconut oil into a glass roller bottle. We just got these new 30ml sized rollers and cannot get enough of them. How perfect is this size for a cologne blend like this? Perfect. We also have these beautiful new gem rollers to make him feel extra special.
